Books

I remember when I was little I used to hate books. I could never fully finish a book. Then, when I started high school I found one book that sparked my interest and since then I can not get enough books on my shelf. So since strangely enough many people don't like books, I thought I would post some recommendations since most of the time when people say they don't like books the only books they've read are the ones everyone has to in school and personally I don't love them that much either.

1) Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
This is the book that started everything it was a great book and i think I've read it about 8 times now. Perfect book if you're looking for something with a bit of a sad theme with a really sweet romance.
Goodreads description:Ruby knows that the game is up. For the past few months, she's been on her own in the yellow house, managing somehow, knowing that her mother will probably never return.
That's how she comes to live with Cora, the sister she hasn't seen in ten years, and Cora's husband Jamie, whose down-to-earth demeanor makes it hard for Ruby to believe he founded the most popular networking Web site around. A luxurious house, fancy private school, a new wardrobe, the promise of college and a future; it's a dream come true. So why is Ruby such a reluctant Cinderella, wary and defensive? And why is Nate, the genial boy next door with some secrets of his own, unable to accept the      help that Ruby is just learning to give?
Best-selling author Sarah Dessen explores the heart of a gutsy, complex girl dealing with unforeseen circumstances and learning to trust again.
                                                  2) City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
One of my all time favourite supernatural book. You really get attached to the characters all the way through the 6 books of the amazing series.

Goodreads Description: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the  Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with  strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there nothing―not even a smear of blood― to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance,  when her mother disappears and Clary    herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters  would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's  ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

3) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
this book never fails to bring a smile to my face it is so adorable. Don't be misled by the title this is not a steamy romance novel. If you ever just need to lift your spirits this is the book for you. Not to mention the fact that Etienne is swoon worthy.

Goodreads Description: Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets √Čtienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, √Čtienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.
But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss.

                  4) Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
If you are looking to be empowered and are a fan of the game of thrones this a great book for you. The lead character is a badass assassin and wait for it... shes a girl. its the perfect mix or adventure, gore and magic.

Goodreads Description: In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Lasting Finish matte lipsticks by Kate Moss

I am absolutely in love with this lipstick. Let's start off with the fact that its super long lasting. I can actually still see it on my wrist from when I did swatches.  Like many other matte lip products it can be a bit drying, especially the dark red, but its nothing a little lip balm can't fix. Also, it is so pigmented, there is no need for more than 2 coats. It comes in loads of different shades and do not even get me started on how good these smell.
The dark red one is shade 107. Sadly they don't have names, only numbers. It is quite hard to wear since it's a bit out of my comfort zone but I still absolutely love it and if you're in the market for a new red I highly suggest this one.       The next one is a coral in shade 32 and I think it would be amazing for summer. A little tip, if you want to go for a more natural look put some lip balm under it, then apply a little bit of the lipstick and then finish it off with another layer of lip balm. P…

It's been a while

I was looking through my computer and stumbled upon this blog that was active long ago. Looking through some of my old posts I realized how much I have changed over the years. Since my last post, I have successfully completed two years of university, made some great friends (even a boyfriend), and have learned a lot (not just about NMRs and antibiotic resistance). So here are 3 things I have learned in the past couple years:

1. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is the only way you'll grow. Through most of high school, I was very shy and only had a couple of good friends. I struggled with talking to new people and was always worried about what they thought of me. When I started university though I used it as a way of starting fresh and becoming a better version of myself. I'm not saying it's easy but it is definitely worth it.

2. Its okay to fail sometimes. First year actually wasn't too bad for me but when second year came around I spread myself too thin and di…

Nails inc. London
Feathers- Brighton

For the past while when visiting sephora and shoppers I have seen this nail polish and have been attracted to it. Let start off withe the packaging. It is so cute! On the lid there is a bird in the colours of the nail polish and white feathers in the background. Speaking of feathers how creative is that. That's what I love about nails inc they have a bunch of creative nail polishes like sprinkles and leather effects.  There were a few flaws with the nail polish but if done right they could be so nice. One thing about them is that they are really messy. Since these are just really long peices of glitter made to look like feathers they stick out at the edges a bit. It's an easy fix but it takes a bit of patience. Also I recommend that you do a base colour instead of just layering it up on your nails because like any other glitter polish some places will be more sparse than others. In the picture above I layered it on top of Essie mint candy a…
